Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. will deliver another record year's results in 2008. Official sales figures will be communicated on the occasion of Lamborghini´s appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2009.
Even as a low volume luxury car manufacturer, Automobili Lamborghini is not unaffected by the present downturn in economic activities in the wake of the global financial crisis. However, the company is in a favourable strategic position due to its identity as a luxury brand of longstanding tradition. One of its core brand values is exclusivity, which is maintained through tight management of volumes and a strict policy of maintaining a strong forward order bank. This exclusivity is of essential relevance to both dealers and customers and is pivotal for the appeal of the brand.
Lamborghini has the most attractive product line-up in the company´s 45 year history. With at least one new product launched every year, and the continued development of the dealer network to maximise market penetration, Automobili Lamborghini has produced a year on year record performance in terms of turnover, profit and volumes for the last four years, together with a rare double digit profit margin. The company´s development marks one of the most respected company turn-around programmes in the automotive and luxury industries.
Long before 2009, the company took decisive steps to address potential market volatility. Production flexibility is made possible by cooperative concepts developed with the union representatives. Besides flexible working hours, it provides the opportunity to create training and qualification programmes during work hours. There will be no layoffs, but an extension of the Christmas holiday for eight days has been confirmed.
Lamborghini will not divert from its long-term strategy. Investment into R&D will not be reduced, and there will be ongoing expansion of its brand presence on a world-wide scale, with more new products and further expansion of its dealer network. The company will continue its strategy of announcing at least one new product each year. The latest examples of this are the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Coupe for which deliveries commenced summer 2008, and the Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder unveiled in November 2008 with market launch in spring 2009. Lamborghini continues its stated objectives of becoming the most profitable supersportscar manufacturer, the most attractive employer and the most attractive brand in its market. |

MAHAG Group and Automobili Lamborghini open new exclusive showroom in Munich
MAHAG-Group will open up their new showroom in Munich today. The partnership of the two companies ? Automobili Lamborghini and MAHAG - gives a brand new presence of the Italian brand of longstanding tradition to Munich. The new showroom is located at the widespread MAHAG premises on the Albrechtstrasse. It sets new dimensions in respect to aesthetics, design and brand impression.
?For the automotive location Munich as well as for the MAHAG Group this investment means another considerable upgrading and we are delighted, to be able to represent this fascinating brand towards our customers?, underlines MAHAG General Manager Thomas Werthmann on the occasion of the opening ceremony in the new showroom of Lamborghini Munich. The building was created as a carefully implement renovation in the tradition of modern architectural classics of an existing construction on the MAHAG premises. As the General Manager of Lamborghini Munich, Carsten Kortüm, points out: ?The new showroom is more than a car sales operation. It was our declared target, to invent a cohesive scenery, in which our visitors can live the brand universe of Lamborghini in all its facets. Especially the importance of design at Lamborghini is mirrored in the structure of the building.?
The showroom has room for up to three exhibition cars, a bar area with Italian flair, an exclusive lounge for customer consultations and a high-end workshop.

Automobili Lamborghini Debuts Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder at the Los Angeles Auto Show

Automobili Lamborghini, creator of the world's most exclusive super sport cars, today held the worldwide debut of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder at the Los Angeles Auto Show. As the successor to the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, the new LP 560-4 Spyder combines the Coupé's design, performance and handling characteristics with the open-air pleasure only a soft top super sports car can deliver.
As the brand's largest global market, the United States - specifically Southern California - was strategically chosen as the perfect location to unveil the new open top super sports car. In 2007, Southern California contributed to approximately 30 percent of all Lamborghini sales in the United States, maintaining its position as the country's most successful region.
"The LP 560-4 is the best example of the Gallardo to date and will be a great contribution to Lamborghini's future success," says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "The entirely new LP 560-4 Spyder adds another dimension to the Gallardo's lineage with extreme design language and class-leading performance."
The much anticipated Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder offers a new 5.2 liter engine with 40 additional horsepower than its predecessor; allowing it to sprint from 0-62 mph in only four seconds with a top speed of 201 mph. The car's agility has also been greatly refined with a new, lighter transmission, which allows increased shift times by 40 percent (Corsa Mode), combined with an all-new chassis, suspension and Lamborghini's permanent all-wheel drive system. Despite increased performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 18 percent.
Since 2003, more than 8,500 Gallardos have left the production facility in the birth place of all Lamborghinis in Sant'Agata, Bolognese, Italy. The Gallardo LP 560-4 Coupé was first unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008 with the dynamic launch taking place in Las Vegas later that spring. Each person who experienced the new Gallardo on the track or the streets unanimously agreed: the Gallardo LP 560-4 is an all-new car that can be enjoyed on any driving surface. Since, the new Gallardo has been critically acclaimed by customers and the media for its extreme performance, aggressive design and increased drivability. The highly anticipated LP 560-4 Spyder is set to continue this legacy. The Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder is now available to order from dealers worldwide, with customer deliveries commencing Spring 2009.
In 2007, the United States market accounted for 39 percent of total Lamborghini sales worldwide and remains the brand's largest global market. Since the beginning of 2005, Automobili Lamborghini has strategically increased its global reach from 65 to 119 dealers worldwide; 31 of these dealers are located in the United States. Last year was a record year for the brand with 930 Lamborghinis delivered in the United States and 2,406 delivered worldwide.
